Amy and the Hank Sinatras - New Orleans, LABig Band Swing in the Heart of Dixieland by Patrick Ferris From the heart of Dixieland comes Amy and the Hank Sinatras...a swingin' big band that brings back the flavor of the 30's and 40's when swing was king. The band is fronted by Amy Adams, a long-time veteran who has broken out of the mold of doing 1930s and '40s standards to release two CD's of original big band music for THIS century! Amy is backed by an all star line-up of artists including: John Fohn - Former guitarist for the Portland, Oregon swing sensation, The Cherry Poppin' Daddies. Jack Carter - Bassist for greats like Mose Allison, Delbert McClinton and Sonny Boy Terry. Willie Panker - Original drummer for The Iguanas, as well as a standard with Earl King, Albert Collins, and Koko Taylor Joe Krown - Keyboardist for Clarence 'Gatemouth' Brown and a veteran of immortal groups such as Guitar Jr. Johnson. Bob Andrews - British born pianist who has collaborated with giants like Graham Parker and Nick Lowe.
For shows with brass, the Hanksters draw from a group of players which include Ken ‘Snakebite’ Jacobs of The New Orleans Nightcrawlers, Tom Fitzpatrick from Walter Washington’s Roadmasters and Eric Traub, a regular player with Dr. John.Becoming a standard in the New Orleans area, the Sinatras will be appearing at their fourth New Orleans Jazz Festival and their third appearance at The French Quarter Festival in April. Outside of New Orleans, you can also catch them at their second appearance at Birmingham Alabama's City Stages 2001 festival in May. They currently have released two CDs of their own music. Their MP3 samples are jammin', thumpin', and make you want to get up and get down, with lots of tasty hooks and excellent musicianship. It's classic nostalgia that ranges in style from Hank Williams-style country to Big Band swing to jump R&B. Amy and the Sinatras have what you want from that big band sound and if their MP3 samples are an indication of future CDs, you can expect to see this band touring in a city near you.
