Glenn White - Denver, CODownside - CD Review by Pat Ferris
Originally from Phoenix area, Glenn led several groups in the Phoenix area since 1993, featuring his own compositions as well as those of his bandmates before relocating to Denver. Modern and Progressive jazz much in the style of 1960s Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, and John Coltrane, his debut CD 'Downside' showcases his tremendous chops on tenor saxophone as well as his prolific talents in jazz composition. The title track layers a lot of different ambiant sounds as well as solos obviously influenced by jazz greats like Wayne Shorter and Miles Davis.
Excellent solos, tightness and creativity are evidence of a group of seasoned and musically mature veterans. Glenn White's music and band at the level of playing that they could stand their own ground with world-class jazz artists. To find out more about this band, CLICK HERE |
