Ceol Beg - Edinburgh, ScotlandTraditional Gaelic music by Pat Ferris From the heart of 'Braveheart' country comes an excellent group of musicians who call themselves Ceolbeg. Peter Boond, Ceolbeg's flutist and only original member, has seen the band through many members. The current members of Ceolbeg are: Peter Boond, flute and whistles; Colin Matheson - Keys, synth, bass; Rod Paterson - Vocals and guitar (Rod has several single releases); Wendy Stewart - Clarsach (Scottish Harp. Wendy also has two single releases); Mike Travis - Drums/Percussion; Gary West - Bagpipes. With a growing internet fan base, Ceolbeg has been in existance for several years, and has released 5 CDs with the GreenTrax label . Ceol Beag is a Gaelic phrase which literally means 'Small Music.' It refers to the jigs, reels, and strathspeys of traditional Scottish pipe music and contrasts with Ceol Mór, the `Big Music' of the pibroch or classical Highland bagpipe repertoire. The blend of instrumentation and arrangments make for a truly enjoyable listening experience and at least one of their CDs should be a must for those in search of traditional Celtic or Gaelic music.
