Ten years in the making and comprised of veterans in the New Orleans music circle, The New Orleans Rhythm & Blues Company has released their debut CD of all original songs. The first cut from the CD, Get Down To It, was chosen as 1 of 5 semi-finalists in the Born On The Web song contest. Another track, "Wake Up", was selected by Riffage.com as one of the top 100 MP3s on the web and was distributed with the October 2000 issue of Spin magazine. "That's The Mardi Gras!" held the number 1 spot in the Jump Blues genre at MP3.com for an impressive 4 weeks, climbing to number 42 overall - quite an accomplishment considering there are over 700,000 songs at MP3.com. In March 2001, 4 of their songs were in the Top Twenty in Southern Rock at MP3.com and 4 other songs were in the Top Forty in the Blues Vocals genre. Thousands of fans from all over the world are listening to their music.
Vocalist and former Miss Louisiana finalist, Michelle Ploue along with bassist Brad Burris make up the song writing team for the NORABC and have a knack of writing songs that appeal to a mass audience across several genres of music.
All members have extensive musical backgrounds. Brad Burris holds two degrees in music and guitarist Mike Vila also has a music degree and is an active instructor of guitar. Michelle Ploue has had a very active background in community events as well as holding a degree in business administration. Michelle was the lead vocalist for Jubilation! from 1988 to 1999. She was just voted Female Vocalist of the Year by Tambalaya Magazine.
I listened to all of their tracks at MP3.com and found them to have a traditional Southern rock sound with a unique twist of New Orleans R&B. The track Don't Hand Me A Line (first listing on our HotBands radio station this week) has potential for top 10 radio play on country stations. Live shows often include a larger band, horns, good arrangements...everything needed to make for a long term success.
