Road Trip, a six-member band based in Madison, Wisconsin, has a unique hard-edged, vintage rock and roll sound that is enhanced by dual vocalists Rich Plath and Amy Doty and backed by excellent musicianship. The band has been through various incarnations since its inception in 1990, consistently building a satisfied fan base. Like many great bands, their forte seems to be live performance. They’ve toured endlessly over the past 11 years, and you can tell from their recordings that they have a high level of energy and musical integrity. Their original material covers 9 years and four CDs: 1994 – Chameleon Gumbo; 1996 – Live at the Route; 1999 - Cowboys and Maniacs, and their latest, Please Disturb released in March of 2001.

Their influences include AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Police and Ozzy Osbourne which make for a diverse punk-n-roll sound. Besides playing clubs, Road Trip has played many major festivals and opened for several national acts such as: Sheryl Crow, ZZ Top, REO Speedwagon, Ted Nugent, Molly Hatchet, Fleetwood Mac, Foreigner, Reel Big Fish, Caroline's Spine, Stir and Jesse James Dupree.

I listened to the tracks at MP3.com from Road Trip’s last two CDs and thought the production of the CD was excellent, and energy of the band was well conveyed digitally. I was most impressed with the diversity of their arrangements and lyrics.

Road Trip regularly tours and averages over 10 shows a month, and I'm looking forward to catching one of their live shows in the upcoming year.
