The Graveyard Boogie Band - Jacksonville, FloridaThe Boogie Man - CD Review By Pat Ferris Following in the footsteps of Lynard Sknyrd, The Allman Brothers, and all great Southern bands, The Graveyard Boogie Band's first release 'The Boogie Man', brings the tradition of 'Southern Rock' back with a fury. Hailing from the Lynard Sknyrd's hometown of Jacksonville Florida, Founder/Guitarist The Rev. Sam E. Tarry ,cut his teeth in the late '60s playing with Donnie Van Zant (.38 Special) and Leon Wilkeson (Lynard Sknyrd), leaving his former band members just before they hit fame in the music industry. Getting back to his roots, The Rev. Sam E. Tarry (guitar, slide, and vocals) comes together with M.T. Graves (bass), Robbin Graves (guitar), Mose A. Leeam (guitar), and Cass Kett on drums (stage names I'm sure). The Graveyard Boogie Band's distinct, yet familiar sound is dominated by driving bass and drums, dueling guitars crunching power chord riffs, and searing slide guitar. Boogie Man is a powerhouse CD packed with lots of great songs and although the band's official homepage lacked the luster of a lot of bands, the music available at their MP3.com page more than made up the difference. Every single song on the CD rocked! I look forward to the next release and hope to see them on tour next year. To find out more about The Graveyard Boogie Band, CLICK HERE. |
