While searching our European band list, I saw the band listed as Crack'n Up's from Bremen Germany. From the name of the band, I didn't take them seriously, expecting to find either a bogus band entry scheduled for deletion, or a garage band destined to hopeless frivolity. As I went through their information at HotBands.com, I saw their information was complete and current, there were mp3's listed, their official homepage was professional and well designed, AND they even remembered to add our link! Big bonus! At this point, I was obliged to listen to them, and can honestly say not to judge the band by the name! All in their early twenties, Nils Wandrey (freaky lead singer & terrifying guitar trips), Beuke Bredehöft (crazy slappin bass ace), and Sven Lahme (insane-kick ass-terror-drums), form a power trio spawned from the influences of German '80s metal. Wandrey's vocals are akin to The Scorpion's Klaus Meine (albeit a few steps lower), with songwriting that suits the sound. From the tracks available at HotBands.com and their Official homepage, I can't say every song was a hit, but their songs were tight, well arranged, and 'Sense' and The Girl from Burger King both sounded like they have commercial potential. I was most impressed with the way Crack'n Up's are able to convey their energy and give you a sense of what it would be like to see them live. For more information on Crack'n Up's, CLICK HERE |
