When I hear 'Dallas', rock music is the furthest thing from my mind...I see visions of cowboy hats, trucks and country music. However, the alternative rock scene is alive and kicking in the lone star state. The Gemini Program, is a 4-piece alternative rock project led by singer, songwriter, guitarist, Danny Skinner with Brent Davis on guitar and vocals, Dustin Fleming on bass and vocals, and Gabe Muzquiz on drums. Self described as similar to Weezer or Jimmy Eat World, Skinner's tenor voice (to me) is reminiscent of David Byrne or Les Claypool...different enough to attract your attention and draw you into listening to the lyrics and how the music is blended perfectly to suit them. I listened to all of the tracks at their MP3.com page and the downloads available on their HotBands.com page, finding each of them to be uniquely original in sound and arrangement, yet all of them had an underlying surge of energy you could feel. Without seeing them live, one can still get a sense from their music that they are nothing short of explosive. The Gemini Program is recording their next EP while keeping a busy touring schedule with a show tonight (July 10, 2002), in Deep Elum. For more information on The Gemini Program,CLICK HERE |
