Pop Shuvit - Kuala Lumpur, MalaysiaMalaysian Rapcore By Pat Ferris Music is more than a passion for hundreds of millions of people around the planet. It's a way we express ourselves, it's a way we connect, and it truly is the universal language. The Internet has accelerated the proliferation of music of all types, exposing people to music that only a few years ago would have been nearly impossible to hear. At an exponential rate, cultures are colliding, creating new music genres within existing genres. Finding and researching these bands is the most satisfying part of writing for HotBands. Pop Shuvit is a 6-piece hip-hop/rapcore band From Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Rivaling the sound of bands like Limp Bizkit or Korn, Pop Shuvit is one of the hardest hitting rapcore bands I've heard, with all of the ingredients of a headliner...good songs, arrangements, musicianship. Obvious influences of American rap, hip-hop, reggae and metal are the mainstay of Pop Shuvit, but one of the most interesting things I found was that their songs were in English, without any noticeable Asian accent. In fact, they sound like they came right out of the Los Angeles 'hood. They have had a tremendous response in their area, headlining larger clubs and festivals. Their official homepage only offered two mp3 downloads from their upcoming CD, 'Jump' and 'Skater's Anthem', both being radio ready and targeted for the MTV audience. If these teasers are a good representation of their full CD, I get the feeling it will be only a matter of time until Pop Shuvit is picked up by a label that can help them get on tour in the United States. ![]() This is a band I'll personally be watching, and looking forward to seeing live!
