Moses
Guest - Houston, TXOn tour: Live at The Owl & Thistle in Seattle By Patrick Ferris Moses Guest, our featured artist from August 2002 has finally made their way to the Pacific Northwest to support their 2002 self-titled debut double-CD. Making their first appearance at The Owl and Thistle, a popular live-music Irish pub in downtown Seattle that typically caters to the under-plugged community, singer and guitarist, Graham Guest, did their first 'acoustic' set of their tour (Graham played his Takamine rather than his Stratocaster). It's been 5 years since I last saw Moses Guest live. I knew then that Moses Guest had enormous potential, but as in the case with most bands, success is 99% perspiration and 1% inspiration, so the ability to hang together, put out three EPs and a stellar debut CD, and continuously tour while expanding their fan base and territory, shows an extraordinary level of professionalism and commitment from all of the band members. With only a handful of people that had actually seen the band before, Moses Guest partied with the crowd, played an awesome show, and made their first appearance in Seattle seem like they were locals playing to a following of loyal fans. A four-piece band with bass, drum, guitar and keys, their grooving Southern sound has been compared with Little Feat, but Moses Guest definitely has songs and a sound that can stand on its own, and a stage presence that you feel the moment they start playing. Aside from the great music, the band was very fun, personable and interacted with the audience, making the entire evening more of a party than just another show. If you haven't seen them yet, try to catch a show...hopefully Moses Guest will make regional and national tours part of their regular summer schedule.
