From our neighbor to the north, Vancouver Canadian band The Clumsy Lovers was our featured artist last month with a pre-release peak at their newest of eight CDs, After the Flood. Last weekend, they had their official CD release party at The Ballard Firehouse in Seattle, performing many of the songs from their new CD as well as favorites of the crowd.

Guitarist Trevor Rogers sang the majority of the songs, but the focal point of the band (at least as far as energy goes) was violinist, Andrea Lewis. If musicianship is a measure of musical aptitude and skill, entertaining is a measure of keeping the attention of the audience. Andrea has both impressive chops and a natural presence, using her fiddle to channel electricity to and from the audience as if it were a lightning rod. The amount of energy radiating from Andrea was the focal point of the bands' appeal, keeping the audience at 110% for the entire set.

It's always exciting to see a band we've selected as a featured artist, especially if the band was selected exclusively on press kits, mp3s, and reputation. I didn't expect anything less than a killer performance, and The Clumsy Lovers were everything that the rumors had suggested...high-energy fun with four fantastic musicians having a great time playing for hundreds of fans.
