The sound that Loscoe State Opera creates immediately caught my attention. I naturally associated this seven-piece, Derbyshire, UK band with Jethro Tull due to the incorporation of flute and the musical arranging style. Classical and Celtic influences along with the combination of traditional instruments with modern electric guitar give LSO a sound that not only crosses genres of music, but a sound that crosses oceans of time, bringing a familiarity from the past to life.
Loscoe State Opera has performed at many of the major festivals in their region, gaining several noteworthy reviews as well as a growing fan base live and online. They have currently released two CDs, Live at Stainsby and Dawn Bird, with a third currently in production. Man with an axe, from Dawn Bird, is an outstanding composition in arrangement, poetry and musicianship. Every instrument is heard and blended to create an enchanting sound that draws the listener in to their world.
