Eighteen months after I was first introduced to their single 'Skater's Anthem', Malaysian Rapcore band Pop Shuvit has escalated to being one of the premier bands coming out of Southeast Asia.
Our initial review and follow up feature helped allow their debut release 'Take it and Shuvit' to be released through EMI Asia, and has since garnered five number one hits and three top 10 videos.
Pop Shuvit, named after a skateboard move, has been the premier band for the Asian XGames for the last year and a half, continuously delivering electrifying performances for audiences as large as 10,000. Their Skaters Anthem video showcased at the Los Angeles XGames in August of 2003 and is currently at the number one position on the MTV Asia Boom charts.
The initial release of 'Take it and Shuvit' in Japan, sold out the first week without any promotion and has created a flurry of reviews, interviews and endorsements.
Pop Shuvit will be opening for the multi-platinum California rock band Incubus on Tuesday, March 16th followed up by a series of tours with the XGames and a summer tour in Australia through Michael Chugg Entertainment.
